Vehicle Preparation

Preparing your vehicle for overlanding can consist of many different aspects depending on your chosen trip. Having a reliable vehicle is without doubt the most important of all. Regardless of where you are going knowing your vehicle is up together and you have gone to every possible measure to ensure breakdowns are to a minimum is key. Hopefully you will know your vehicle and it's quirks, however please speak to your mechanic about possible known issues specific to your vehicle. Alternatively please contact us at any time to discuss any issues you may have and we will endeavor to help you. If you feel that your vehicle has any Issues then we strongly suggest that you have a professional take a look and replace rather than assume it will be okay. We also suggest each vehicle should have a full service prior to departing on a trip.

Our trips vary in terrain and difficulty, some trips require a more extensively prepared vehicle and some are suited to very road friendly set-ups, please give us a call whatever your vehicle and we will happily help you decide what trip is right for you!

We have extensive knowledge of vehicle preparation and repair specialists all over the UK for all types of vehicle so we can help put you in touch with them should you need.

Another aspect that we encourage you to focus on is tyres, all- terrains are a popular choice due to the varying terrain in all our trips but some customers do choose a more aggressive mud terrain style tyre, whatever the style good load capacity is key for longer trips. Before undertaking any trip please ensure these are of legal tread depth and the vehicles tracking and the tyres have been balanced.

Before undertaking a long trip it is a good idea to have a practice run with your vehicle. Take a couple of days away with the vehicle, our weekend trips are ideal for this as they give you the chance to test your vehicle and kit preparation while still in the comfort of the UK. This may bring up any unforeseen problems with the vehicle that can be sorted before leaving. It also gives you a chance to practice packing your vehicle. Packing your vehicle properly will ensure all your kit will fit in and is easily accessible it will make finding those important things easier and quicker when it counts.
